Becoming Divine, Not Perfect

The mud was never a mistake…without it, the lotus would never rise.
What’s divine,
purity or authenticity?
In my life, till now, I’ve found nothing more divine than authenticity.
Purity, when performed without presence, becomes an illusion…
a lie, an image we carry to convince ourselves of who we are.
Purity is often seen as a state of original innocence,
an uncontaminated essence.
In many spiritual traditions, purity is the goal. Like a clean mirror that reflects truth, or a mind free from defilements.
It carries the aura of stillness, clarity, light.
But purity, if misunderstood, can become rigid. It can slip into perfectionism, repression,
or a quiet detachment from the rawness of life.
Authenticity, on the other hand,
is the courageous act of being what you truly are…moment to moment.
Even when it’s messy, contradictory, or still becoming.
It is the art of living your truth,
not hiding behind masks,
but letting your full humanity be seen.
Authenticity can feel impure,
filled with shadows, longings, and vulnerability…but in its honesty, there is something deeply sacred.
Authenticity holds a higher sacredness in the journey of becoming.
Because even impurity, when fully accepted
and seen in its truth,
can become the path to real purity, not the kind you’re born with,
but the kind you earn through awareness and love.
In that sense,
purity is the fruit,
authenticity is the soil.
Without authenticity, the pursuit of purity becomes artificial.
But through authenticity,
even the impure becomes holy.
The mud was never a mistake,
without it, the lotus would never rise.
